ILFA’s inaugural Legal Finance Awards offer an opportunity to celebrate excellence with the legal finance sector.
There are seven categories, listed below, each spotlighting different parts of the legal finance ecosystem. Each category has its own criteria, which can be found here.
Judging for the awards is underway and the shortlist will be announced in the near future.

Award Categories
Outstanding Insurance Brokerage
This award recognises excellence among insurance brokers who support litigation funding transactions with tailored, effective risk-transfer solutions. It celebrates brokers who demonstrate deep industry knowledge, innovation in policy structuring, and measurable impact on access to justice and litigation risk management.
Most Effective Collective Action
This award honours a group action that achieved significant legal, financial, or societal outcomes through strategic litigation and collaboration. It recognises legal teams and funders who maximised claimant outcomes, managed procedural complexities, and drove systemic change or accountability. Both claimant law firms and funders are eligible.
Outstanding Advisor
This award highlights the vital role of intermediaries who bridge the gap between claimholders and funders. It acknowledges outstanding performance in deal origination, structuring, and strategic advisory that enhances the efficiency and transparency of the funding ecosystem.
Most Innovative Legal Technology Provider
This award celebrates a technology company whose tools have transformed how disputes are assessed, managed, or funded. It recognises innovation that delivers measurable value to funders, law firms, and other stakeholders within the litigation finance ecosystem.
Exceptional Commercial Law Firm
This award recognises a law firm that has demonstrated outstanding commercial litigation capability in collaboration with litigation funders. The firm will have a strong and trusted reputation and a proven track record of delivering high-value results for clients.
Outstanding Arbitration Firm or Team
This award honours a legal team that has excelled in resolving commercial or investor-state disputes through arbitration, where funding played a role. It recognises advocacy, innovation, and successful outcomes in high-stakes or precedent-setting arbitral proceedings.
Exceptional Legal Services Provider for Litigation Funders
This award recognises law firms who provide direct and invaluable support to funders in creating deals, portfolio management, and other operational outputs. The firm will have a strong reputation in the sector for consistency, reliability, and excellence.
Exceptional Intellectual Property / Patent Law Firm
This award recognises a law firm that has demonstrated outstanding intellectual property/patent litigation capability in collaboration with litigation funders. The firm will have a strong and trusted reputation and a proven track record of delivering high-value results for clients.
